Walking sticks might seem simple but at our large Fortuna showroom are able to stock over 40 sorts of walking stick to cater for most people’s requirements. Our walking stick range starts from £10 ex VAT
At the simplest level you can choose whether to buy a traditional wooden stick or an aluminium one. Wooden sticks are fixed-length but it can be cut down to a size which suits you, something we can help you with. Aluminium sticks are usually adjustable for length and some can be folded so they stored in a bag.
We sell a variety of attractive colours and designs. As well as ‘standard’ walking sticks, some come with either a tripod or quadruped design for greater stability.

Another thing to consider is the shape of the handle (see pictures for some examples). Most can be used in either hand, but the contoured ‘anatomic’ handles are shaped for either the left or right hand and can be particularly comfortable for people with arthritis. Finally, some, premium, sticks have soft-touch handles for extra comfort.

Finally, there is the choice of ferrule (the rubber part that touches the ground). Most sticks have traditional ferrules (if you use the stick a lot, these will eventually wear out, but it does not cost much to replace and if you bring your stick with you, we can fit a new one on the spot). However, as well as traditional ferrules, we also sell a range of sticks with an extra wide ferrule, which provides additional grip on slippery surfaces and also allows you to stand the stick without having to lean it against anything.

If a walking stick is not enough you might need crutches. We sell standard Elbow Crutches as well as Underarm Crutches. We also sell a variety of walking sticks.
