MUGS WITH INTERNAL CONE

Like the rest of our range of Ornamin mugs these are made of high-quality materials and are designed to keep drinks at the right temperature. 

However, these mugs have a unique cone-shaped interior design. This will help people with dysphagia, limited neck and arm movement or who are bed bound, to drink without assistance. The mugs are very intuitive to use and require no explanation unlike the nose cut-out cups that are often provided for these users.

The mugs come with a choice of either single or double ergonomic handles to provide a firm grip and secure hold. All our Ornamin mugs are compatible with a variety of lids to suit most needs (see 'Ornamin Lids' below).

THERMO MUGS

Made from high-quality recyclable materials, Ornamin Thermo Mugs are designed with a double-sided wall that keeps the drink warm (or cold).

The high level of insulation means that these mugs particularly suitable for people who find it difficult to drink quickly or have those with limited movement in their fingers, for instance due to arthritis. However, because they look and feel great, most people will be happy to use them.

The Thermo mug is also available as a ‘Glow in the Dark’ option which means that it can be left on a bedside table to use once the lights are out.

NON-SLIP CUPS

These attractive Ornamin cups are made with a special non-slip material which ensures that the user can maintain a firm hold. These cups are particularly useful for people with numb fingers, clammy or shaky hands. The extra grip will improve comfort to make drinking a pleasure again.

The cups are made of durable, break-resistant high-quality plastic, and are compatible with a variety of lids to suit most needs (see below).

There is a choice of colours in two designs: the attractive ‘Flower’ non-slip cup or the transparent ‘Scale’ design. Both have a measuring scale inside the beaker so that the volume of the contents be checked quickly and easily.

ORNAMIN LIDS

Our selected range of lids each fulfils a specific function. All of them will fit with any of the Ornamin Mugs and Cups selected by Fortuna. This means that if the user's needs change, the lid can be changed without the cost of replacing the mug.

Lids are commonly used with dysphagia, swallowing difficulties, shaky hands, tremor or with limited movement in the neck.

Spouted lids fit a large range of mugs by ORNAMIN and prevent splashes and spills. The long spout means there is no need to tilt the head when drinking, enabling safe drinking even for those with limited movement in the neck.

Intuitive to use

This inconspicuous drinking lid sits discreetly inside the cup and prevents splashes and spills. It’s intuitive to use and drinking from all sides is possible.It is often recommended by occupational therapists as the musculature in the mouth is not affected.

Can be used with a straw

Low-profile drinking lid for controlled liquid intake and prevention of splashes and spills. There is one larger hole which can be used to pinch a straw as well as smaller holes around the outside to allow drinking from all sides.

User control

Through the special design of the spout, fluid intake is determined by suction. This not only enables spills to be limited to a couple of drips, but also minimises the risk of choking - the user can control how much they want to drink.

PLATES & BOWLS WITH SLOPED BASE

Alongside a great-looking design, these plates and bowls have a:
- slanted interior base
- discreet protruding lip
- non-slip ring on the bottom to keep the plate still

All of which make it easier for people eating with one hand to pick up food with a spoon or fork.

The bottom of the plate or bowl slopes so food tends to move towards the side making it easier trap the food so eating is less of a struggle - whether it’s getting soup on a spoon or chasing peas!

This makes these plates particularly useful for people who only have full use of one hand (for instance following a stroke or living with MS). The plates are also helpful with those with problems in both hands (for instance weakness, Parkinson’s or dyspraxia). They may also be useful for patients with Alzheimer’s.

KEEP WARM DISHES

The ‘Keep Warm Plate’ and the ‘Keep Warm Bowl’ enable even the slowest eater to enjoy their meal all the way to the end. Hot (or cold) water can be poured into the hollow wall of the dish so that the food is kept at the right temperature for longer.

Key features:

- concealed openings are easy to fill with hot or cold water or crushed ice.
- the openings are covered by non-slip grip pads making the bowls easy and safe to hold
- a non-slip ring under the base helps keep the bowl still during the meal.

This range is designed for people who eat slowly, whether their young, old or have problems with eating due to illness.

CUTLERY SET with non-slip grip

With its ergonomically shaped grip pads this cutlery provides a firm hold for the user, even with hands that are clammy, shaky, or numb. The ultra-stylish design means that it can be used without embarrassment or stigma

The S-shaped silhouette of the fork and spoon provides assistance when lifting, holding and guiding the cutlery, while the round grip of the knife allows it to sit comfortably in hands of all sizes, for a confident grip when holding and cutting. NON-SLIP BOARD 

Spreading can be easier. The Ornamin ‘Non-Slip Board’ has a raised surface on three sides that will prevent a slice of bread from sliding off, and a non-slip ring underneath the board to prevent it moving.

That’s why ‘Non-Slip Board’ is a great assistant for one-handed eating, enabling people with limited hand mobility to prepare sandwiches or toast for themselves.

FOOD PREPARATION HELP

The ‘Food Preparation Help’ is the perfect addition to the ORNAMIN Non-Slip Board.

Attached to the raised rim of the board, it allows for safe slicing of cheese, vegetables and fruits. It is easy to assemble and remove with one hand. It sits firmly on the raised edge of the Non-Slip Board, thus guaranteeing it can’t slip during cutting or spreading.
