Our aim is to make the process as smooth and efficient as possible, while ensuring the finished installation is safe, solid and set up for you. Below is an outline of what you can expect before, during and after fitting your StairSteady, so you feel fully prepared.
Access and preparation: please ensure clear access to the staircase, hallway and landing. Removing pictures, ornaments and any trip hazards helps our technician work efficiently.
Utilities: we may need electricity for our tools, during the installation.
Sometimes we do surveys before providing a quote, but if pictures of the staircase suggest that the installation will be straightforward we can offer same-day survey and installation.
Following the survey our technicians will let you make your mind up without any pressure
Arrival: our trained technician will introduce themselves and carry identification.
Parking: if possible, please allow a nearby parking space, but don’t worry if that’s difficult.
Protection of your home: we take care to protect flooring and surrounding areas using dust sheets and coverings where required.
Fitting the StairSteady: we’ll mark out the safest position, securely fix the rail to the wall and fit the sliding handle mechanism so it moves smoothly.
Typical duration: fitting usually takes about 2 hours in normal circumstances (it may take a longer for more complex stairs or specific needs).
Multiple flights / mid-landing: if you have a split staircase or a landing in the middle, an additional short-section (dogleg) can be used (supplied in two parts, one for each flight).
Safety & cleanliness: we aim to keep disruption to a minimum, maintain a tidy workspace throughout and follow all relevant safety procedures.
