Slings must be removed from service if any of the following are detected in the examination:
Holes, tears, cuts, snags or embedded materials.
Broken or worn stitches in the load-bearing splices.
Knots in any part of the sling webbing.
Wear and tear in the fabric.
Pen or maker on labels which can potentially hide any important information on the sling
The sling identification tag is missing or not readable.
The SWL (safe working load) limit is not readable.
If any damage is identified, the sling must be replaced immediately.
