LOLER Regulations for Slings

Slings must be removed from service if any of the following are detected in the examination:

  • Holes, tears, cuts, snags or embedded materials.

  • Broken or worn stitches in the load-bearing splices.

  • Knots in any part of the sling webbing.

  • Wear and tear in the fabric.

  • Pen or maker on labels which can potentially hide any important information on the sling

  • The sling identification tag is missing or not readable.

  • The SWL (safe working load) limit is not readable.

If any damage is identified, the sling must be replaced immediately.
