Troubleshooting for Shower Cubicles

Drainage is slow

Cause: Partial blockage caused by build-up of hair and other material.

The Shower Waste Pump (Figure 1) does not require any major maintenance, but it should be cleaned once a month:

  • remove the lid from the pump box
  • lift out the pump cylinder from the socket in the base of the box
  • remove foreign matter from the pump blades (Figure 2) on the underside of the pump cylinder (and all other areas)

  • Scrub the area around the pump with a long handled stiff brush. This will reduce the build up of dirt and odours.

  • Check that the small bore hole adjacent to the pump blades is clean (Figure 2)

  • There is a persistent leak or internal damage not resolved by cleaning.
