Fortuna works with Occupational Therapists, Local Authorities and other health and social care professionals to provide practical home adaptations based on an individual's assessed needs.
We understand that an adaptation needs to achieve more than simply looking good. It must provide an appropriate functional solution for the user, work within the physical constraints of the property and, where applicable, meet the requirements of the commissioning organisation.
We can work from an OT specification or discuss the practical options available for a particular property. Our aim is to help translate clinical and functional requirements into a practical bathroom installation.
Where several adaptations are required within the home, Fortuna Mobility can also help with associated accessibility solutions including grab rails, stair rails, ramps, stairlifts, StairSteady and other mobility equipment.
Some people may be eligible for financial assistance towards essential bathroom adaptations through a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG).
Eligibility and the work that can be funded depend on individual circumstances and the relevant Local Authority. An Occupational Therapist or the Local Authority's adaptations or housing team may be involved in assessing what changes are necessary.
Fortuna Mobility can work with customers, OTs and commissioning teams where bathroom adaptations are being undertaken as part of a DFG-funded project.
