What to Expect During Your Wetroom Installation

Our aim is to make the process as smooth and efficient as possible, as well as ensuring that the finished installation meets the highest standards. The following is an outline of what you might expect before, during and after the installation, so that you feel fully prepared.

Understanding your wetroom

  • a wetroom will provide a level access shower, making it easier to use for people with limited mobility

  • a wetroom is just that: wetIf you do not use the shower curtains (and/or shower screen) and if you direct the shower horizontally, water will be sprayed around the room. The toilet and sink may become wet and in some circumstances water may run out through the door

  • we will follow the pre-agreed specification. If additional work is required we will need to agree a revised specification with the customer (ie the person or organisation that is paying for the work)

  • if a wetroom is being installed on behalf of an organisation (such as a local authority or housing association) they may prefer to use their own team for decorating outside the immediate shower area or to fix more general problems with plumbing or electrics

Before Installation

Timescales
Wetrooms installations typically take around 3 weeks but this can vary depending on the complexity of the job and whether we find any unexpected problems.

Confirmation
One of our team will contact you shortly before the installation date to confirm arrival time and any final details.

Access and Parking
Please ensure clear access to the bathroom area. Removing personal items from the area will help our technicians work efficiently and complete the installation more quickly. If possible, please provide a nearby parking space, but don't worry if this is difficult for you.

Preparation
We may need access to water and electricity during the installation.

The Installation Process

Arrival
Our trained installation team will introduce themselves and carry identification.

Protection of your home
We take care to protect flooring and surrounding areas, using dust sheets and coverings where required.

Installation work
Our team will remove any existing fittings, as agreed, carry out all necessary electrical, plumbing, flooring and installation work. We will keep disruption to a minimum.

Safety & Cleanliness
We aim to maintain a tidy workspace throughout and will follow all relevant safety procedures.

Schedule
Most wet room installations are completed in around 3 weeks, although this can vary depending on the specific layout and any agreed adaptations. An example of a timetable might be as follows:

Days 1-2 Stripping back tiles and or flooring and removing an existing bath and other fittings

Day -3-4  Electrical works, which will vary according to the exact specification of the wetroom.

Day 4-10  Preparing the floor and shower deck | preparing walls and fitting of panels (or tiles) | plumbing

Day 11  Fitting of waterproof Altro flooring

Day 12-15  Final fitting of toilet, shower, riser bar, shower curtain, shower screen, grab rails, shower seat, according to agreed specification.

Notes on Installation:
  • this is purely a guide - the schedule may change, sometimes at short notice, according to circumstances. There may be days when no work is done, if our technicians are unexpectedly required for emergency work elsewhere or are unable to attend due to illness

  • schedules can be delayed if specific fittings are not immediately available from our suppliers

  • some wetrooms do not require additional electrical works

  • although we will try to keep this to a minimum, there may be times when the toilet cannot be used

After Installation

Testing and demonstration
Once installed, we'll test the shower and other fittings and show you how to use and care for it.

Clean-up
We will endeavour to tidy the work area on a daily basis but sometimes we will have to leave bagged up material for collection at a later date. We will ensure that all waste materials are removed before leaving on the final day.

Aftercare and warranty
You will be provided with relevant aftercare information and details of your warranty.
