Bambach Discussions with Paediatric OTs
Bambach Saddle Seat Lunch and Learn: Collaborating with Paediatric OTs
This week we hosted a successful Lunch & Learn event, bringing together paediatric occupational therapists (OTs) to explore the benefits of the Bambach Saddle Seat. It was a great opportunity for OTs to deepen their understanding of how the Bambach can benefit children with additional seating needs.

A Hands-On Learning Experience
The session provided a mix of theory and practice: attendees had the chance to experience the Bambach Saddle Seat first-hand, gaining insight into how it supports posture, stability and functional movement.
Our expert speakers, Mahmud Habib and Elaine Ferguson, discussed the science behind the seat’s unique design and how it promotes optimal pelvic positioning - a crucial factor in improving core strength, fine motor skills and overall comfort.
Key Takeaways for Paediatric OTs
- Improved Posture and Stability – The Bambach Saddle Seat helps maintain a good pelvic position, reducing strain on the lower back and encouraging better spinal alignment. Moreover, the symmetry of the saddle helps when there is lateralising neurological deficit.
- Enhanced Functionality – With improved stability, children can better focus on activities such as handwriting, self-care, and play.
- Versatile Applications – The seat can be used in therapy sessions, classrooms, and at home, making it a valuable tool for therapists and families alike.
- Customisation for Individual Needs – With adjustable height and various seat options, the Bambach Saddle Seat accommodates different body types and therapy goals.
Feedback
The response from paediatric OTs was very positive: there was discussion about how they might configure the Bambach for specific users and how the Bambach can be adapted to accommodate a child’s growth. They also had the chance to try out the Bambach for themselves.
