Fortuna.Bambach acquires StairSteady
A solution for people who need support on the stairs
Fortuna.Bambach Ltd is delighted to announce the acquisition of StairSteady, bringing one of the UK’s most innovative stair solutions into the Fortuna portfolio. We regard this as unique opportunity to introduce a life-changing product to thousands more people.
A unique alternative to a stairlift
When people begin to struggle with the stairs, the choice is often seen as either using a handrail or installing a stairlift. However, many people fall somewhere in between: they are still able to walk independently, but they need extra support to use the stairs safely and confidently.
StairSteady is designed specifically for this group. Unlike a stairlift, it allows users to continue walking up and down the stairs themselves while holding a secure moving support that travels with them. It provides reassurance, stability and confidence without replacing the user’s mobility.
For many people, this means they can remain active and continue using their own staircase safely.
An under-recognised stair solution
Despite its proven benefits, StairSteady is not widely known - not only among the general public but also among many health and social care professionals.
If a handrail is equivalent to a walking stick and a stairlift is, in essence, a powered wheelchair designed specifically for stairs, then:
the StairSteady can be thought of as being like a walking frame or rollator.
We believe it is a product that deserves far greater recognition than it currently receives.
Helping people stay active
Our approach has always been to support and preserve mobility wherever possible. Remaining active is often associated with better strength, balance, confidence, and independence. A product that helps someone continue using the stairs safely can often delay the need for more major adaptations.
StairSteady is particularly suitable for people who:
-
have reduced balance or confidence on the stairs
-
have mild to moderate mobility difficulties
-
are recovering from illness or injury
-
want to remain physically active
-
are looking for an alternative to a stairlift.
Our plans
The acquisition gives StairSteady access to the investment, infrastructure, and expertise of Fortuna.Bambach, allowing us to expand its reach and continue developing the product.
-
Increasing awareness among the public, OTs, physiotherapists, local authorities, case managers and other healthcare professionals.
-
Investing in product development, including new models and additional features suitable for a wider range of staircases and home environments.
-
Expanding internationally, making StairSteady available in overseas markets where demand for ageing-in-place solutions is growing.
A stronger range of independent living solutions
The acquisition strengthens Fortuna Mobility’s position as a leading UK specialist in mobility and independent living equipment.
We always aim to provide the right solution at the right time. For some people that will be a stairlift, while for others it may be StairSteady, grab rails, walking aids, or other mobility solutions that help them remain safe and independent at home.
If you or a family member is beginning to find the stairs more difficult, StairSteady could provide the extra support and confidence needed to continue using the stairs safely.
